We are calling on everyone to join in on the Red Shoe fun! Step out with a pair of red heels that symbolize your commitment to end violence against women.
You can participate from anywhere, at any time throughout the month of September . Walk, bike, or throw a party and showcase your red shoes on social media using the hashtag #RedShoeWalk.
We bring you the shoes and leave the creative license to you. Involvement is easy!
You can join as an individual or start a team. This year, our goal is 150 participants raising $85,000 to support the demand for My Friend’s House in Southern Georgian Bay.
Your participation is a way for you or team to make a statement that violence against women is not acceptable. It will only be solved by everyone working together. Your community contribution will have an incredible impact.
Involve your friends, colleagues, and family members and walk your neighborhoods or workspaces to add your voice to this important cause. You will be able to show support through social media tagging @MyFriendsHouseCollingwood and using the hashtag #RedShoeWalk.
It’s not easy walking in these shoes, but this act is meant to show the struggles women face in abusive situations. And it’s fun to participate at the same time!
Demand for our crisis shelter services is intensifying because Georgian Triangle’s population has increased significantly since we opened our doors in 1991. As our community is growing, so is the need for supports for women fleeing abusive situations. Our shelter operations are 50% dependent on our dollars fundraised each year.
Your support of Red Shoe Walk 2022 will help My Friend’s House continue to provide:
Become an Event Sponsor! We’re happy to work with you to make this a mutually beneficial partnership.
Proceeds from the event help cover the operational costs of providing safe refuge and support to abused women and their children – both in our shelter and to women in the community who are living with abuse and violence.
