GIFT CARDS

Gift cards truly help us to bridge the gap for our residents. Women fleeing violence often do not have time to pack up their belongings such as clothing or personal items for them and their children. And things like fluctuating grocery prices can really affect our everyday expenses. Gift cards can be a saving grace for us. They also can provide some much needed fun for our women and children - like a Saturday afternoon movie adventure or a few hours at Kidding Around Playground which can prove therapeutic. We appreciate gift certificates for:

  • Grocery stores (Loblaws, Sobeys, Metro, FreshCo, etc.)
  • Department/Retail stores (Winners, Walmart, HBC, etc.)
  • Pharmacies (Shoppers Drug Mart)
  • Hardware stores (Home Hardware, Canadian Tire, Home Depot)
  • Bus passes
  • Long distance calling cards
  • Cineplex
  • Bowling
  • YMCA passes
  • Mini golf
  • Children's activities (Kidding Around Playground, Collingwood Circus Club, etc.)

PERISHABLE AND NON PERISHABLE FOODS

Our grocery & supply budget at present is $150.00 per week. That is not a lot when feeding three or more families! Your generous donations of perishable and non-perishable food really helps to provide nutritious and delicious food for our residents. Donations of gift cards for Loblaws and FreshCo go a long way in covering costs, especially when there are special diets and allergies that we need to consider.

WISH LISTS FOR THE SHELTER

Occasionally we will identify specific items we need for the shelter and for our residents. Check back to view the updated "NEEDED ITEMS" list.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, My Friend's House does not have anything on our needed items list at this time. If you still want to make a donations, consider a financial donation instead.

Note: For health and hygiene reasons, we accept donations of only new items. If you have used donations, please take them to the Salvation Army Thrift Store at 162 Ste. Marie Street in Collingwood. We cannot accept donations of clothing except specific items on our wish list or when a crisis requires specialty items. We also cannot accept donations of furniture and household equipment. Please call E3's Re-Use Centre located on High Street in Collingwood.
