What if there isn't room for me and my children at My Friend's House?

You will be asked if you need a safe place right now.  If you say yes, we will find you another secure and safe place to stay until a room is available at My Friend's House.

If you need a drive, we will arrange safe transportation to My Friend's House for you.

Can I come and just talk to someone?

Yes. We have counsellors available to help you 24/7. Call our Crisis Line to get directions to My Friend's House. There is always someone here to speak with you – in person or on the phone.

I don't have a car.  How do I get there?

If you need a drive to My Friend's House, we will arrange to get you here.  Just call and ask us.

Do I need an appointment?

If you are in crisis, just come. We will give you directions over the phone.

If you want to talk with someone about your situation and you feel you're not in crisis, it is a good idea to make an appointment. Call one of the numbers above. Remember, you are no longer alone. We are here for you 24/7.

Where is My Friend's House?

We do not publish our address for many reasons. When you call, we will give you directions to the house.

How much does it cost to stay at My Friend's House?

You do not have to pay to stay at My Friend's House. We receive funding from the provincial government and donors to provide services to you.

Can I bring my children?

Yes. We welcome your kids. We have a child and youth worker who will provide activities and support for your children to help them feel welcome and comfortable.

How do I know My Friend's House is really safe?

Your safety and security is our key concern. All of us at My Friend's House follow very strict security procedures.  We have alarm systems and security cameras as well.

When you call us, your privacy and safety are protected as well. Our telephones are not equipped with Call Display for incoming calls. Our outgoing calls will not appear on Call Display telephones.

Am I allowed to go out?

Yes.  Staying in touch with people who support you is important. We have procedures in place to make sure you are safe, but you can come and go as you wish.
